Vision
The project uses music as a shared language to bring together youth from diverse communities, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation. Through high-level musical training and collaborative performance, it promotes both artistic excellence and social cohesion. The program’s objective is to create a sustained framework where young participants develop skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging while experiencing diversity as a source of strength.
Activity
The Jerusalem Orchestra East & West is a national cultural institution whose core activity combines high-level artistic performance with a comprehensive educational framework. The orchestra presents concerts in Israel and internationally while developing a distinctive musical language that integrates Eastern and Western traditions.
Alongside its concert activity, the orchestra operates a broad national educational system that includes youth orchestras, school-based programs, inclusive ensembles, and community initiatives. These programs engage young participants from Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and Druze communities, providing ongoing musical training, mentorship by professional musicians, and opportunities for collaborative performance.
The project submitted to the Foundation is part of this educational activity and focuses on the Youth Orchestra East & West – North, culminating in an intensive summer program and public performances. It serves as a central component of the orchestra’s work to promote cultural dialogue, musical excellence, and shared society through sustained, year-round engagement.
