Vision

To create a long term, inclusive community for children and young people with physical disabilities, where they develop independence, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Through shared residential experiences over many years with the same group of committed volunteers and participants, the program fosters leadership, mutual responsibility, and meaningful social participation that extends beyond the program into everyday life.

Activity

Beit HaGalgalim operates a nationwide, multi-year residential weekend program for children and adolescents with physical disabilities. Approximately 500 participants take part annually, alongside a similar number of long-term volunteers, across six regional houses in Israel.
Participants are part of consistent peer groups that meet at least eight weekends per year, often over many years. During these weekends, participants and volunteers live together, sharing daily routines such as preparing meals, making group decisions, and engaging in social and recreational activities.
The program is built on a shared living model that emphasizes equality, responsibility, and active participation. Participants are not passive recipients of care, but active members of a community where each individual contributes according to their abilities.
This continuity enables the development of deep relationships, trust, and a strong sense of belonging. The program promotes independence, leadership, and social confidence, while also reducing isolation and providing families with meaningful respite.
