Vision
We are piloting the future of learning and schooling, removing the constraints of frameworks such as standard lessons, classrooms, or even school affiliation, and transforming students into proactive agents of learning and change.
Activity
“Scaling Schools” will bring together educators from 11 diverse schools of the Society for Advancement of Education, to develop together thematic “series” of community-based learning, to be offered to students of all participating schools, learning and creating projects together in mixed groups (in terms of schools, genders, ethnicities, and religiosity levels), over flexible timeslots, using various settings and methodologies at diverse locations. The emphasis on meaningful learning outside school, in the community itself, will be complemented by a fruitful encounter between students from different schools and communities, which will enrich their learning experience with more diverse perspectives, bring them closer together and emphasize mutual learning, values and discourse. Moreover, the encounter between the educational development teams of the different schools and communities will also facilitate mutual enrichment and learning, as they work together to develop their joint “series”. In the 2026-27 school-year, 22-25 educators will develop together 8-11 “series” modules on different topics. A group of 8th-10th grade students from each of these educators’ schools will then take part in the learning “series” developed in mixed groups (300+ students in total, ~30 students taking each of the “series”), ending with a special community event showcasing their learning experience and products.
