Alternative Livelihoods Training and Support Project

Mphande, Zambia

keyhole 3

Vision

Tevel’s project aims to uplift rural subsistence farming villages from poverty while preventing forced migration to overcrowded and precarious urban areas. By supporting the transition to small-scale commercial farming, we empower communities to achieve sustainable livelihoods in their local environments. The Mphande project stands as a model for sustainable development and economic resilience, with potential to inspire and impact communities across Zambia and the broader region.

Main Objectives:

1.Economic Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation: By transitioning to commercial farming, rural villages can shift from subsistence to income-generating agricultural practices, providing families with greater economic stability and improved quality of life.

2.Community Resilience and Sustainability: With support from the Matanel Foundation, Tevelwill expand its agricultural model to include poultry farming, diversifying income sources and enhancing the community’s resilience to economic and environmental challenges.

3.Regional Influence and Replicability: The success of the Mphande project will serve as a replicable model for sustainable rural development across Zambia and beyond, contributing to broader efforts to address poverty and support stable, thriving communities.
