Vision

Safa Hadasha (New Language) is an innovative online journal and platform, the first of its kind in Israel. Born in the aftermath of October 7 and the multifaceted trauma within Israeli society, still in a state of war, the project fosters intellectual creation and dialogue, offering a new framework for understanding the world.

Its core objective is to generate a comprehensive, interdisciplinary conversation about the fundamental questions facing Israeli society. Safa Hadasha seeks to offer a moral horizon capable of addressing ongoing trauma and moving forward with clarity and hope. This is both an intellectual and cultural endeavor rooted in concern for the future — not only of Israeli society but of the world at large.

Activity

The journal features a wide variety of content, including essays, articles, poetry, audio works, and visual art. It serves as both a stage and a laboratory, where individuals from diverse communities in Israel come together with the aim of healing societal rifts and proposing a new language to articulate reality.

The online journal is updated on a continuous basis, with an active website, Facebook page, and newsletter. Four times a year, a complete edition is released, each centered on a core theme selected by the editorial staff. In addition, our team initiates and organizes conferences, cultural events, and presentations to the Israeli public.

During the second half of 2025, Safa Hadasha published two major themed editions:

  • Issue 3 – “A Brief Glance” (Mabat Ḥatuf, מבט חטוף) (Passover).
  • Issue 4 – “Destruction” (Ḥurban, חורבן) (Tisha B’Av).

Together, these editions featured more than 70 works spanning philosophy, literature, Jewish–Arab dialogue, music, and visual art. Contributors included leading scholars, artists, and cultural figures such as  Prof. Haviva Pedaya, Dr. Naama Oshri, Prof. Eldad Pardo, Dr. Sheli Elkayam, Shimon Pinto, Yagel Haroush, Yaniv Shapira, and Rabbi Daniel Epstein.

In this period, the journal also underwent a full website redesign, significantly improving accessibility and aesthetic integration of text, image, and sound. Analytics show robust organic growth: ~4,100 unique users (~13,000 page views) engaged with Issues 3–4, with ~10,000 unique users (~39,000 views) since launch.

Finally, Safa Hadasha launched its independent publishing house, through which two books were released: The Haggadah of Infinite Peace (Haggadat HaShalom Ha’Ensofi) and Tikkun Shavuot. This expansion extends the reach of the journal into ritual and print culture. Preparations are also underway for Issue 5 and the one-year anniversary event at Beit Alma, Tel Aviv, on Simchat Torah 2025.
