News from GHIS school
Givat Haviva International School (GHIS)
We are very excited to share the news about Chernor – the GHIS graduate who is adopted by the community in Santa Barbara.
Chernor is a graduate from our first cohort. He is an orphan from Liberia who grew up in extreme poverty.
Despite this, as a clever boy, he understood the value of education. He worked as a rickshaw driver from age 12, and it was this that enabled him to pay his school fees. GHIS was lucky to find Chernor as he was lucky to find us. After graduation, we connected him to our supporting community in Santa Barbara. He is a gentle and generous soul and they took him to their hearts, deciding to bring him into their community. They found him a warm adoptive family and helped him attend the local college. On Friday, Chernor was elected President of SBCC – his college!! We could not contain our joy. How incredible that a poor Muslim boy from Monrovia was given this chance of a lifetime and we helped him make the very most out of it. Hope you enjoy the screenshot from his instagram. Thank you for your continuous support – you are giving a chance to these amazing young people!! Clare and Nurit
