Vision
Bridging the intergenerational gap within Israel’s Ethiopian community while strengthening family and communal bonds. Our mission encompasses preserving cultural heritage while fostering integration into Israeli society, addressing technological and cultural gaps between generations, reinforcing Ethiopian Israeli identity, and ensuring the continuity of cultural knowledge through meaningful intergenerational dialogue and heritage transmission.
Activity
The Kahan Association actively implements comprehensive programs that enhance Ethiopian Jewish heritage and values within Israeli society. Through its flagship intergenerational project, the association conducts structured meetings between grandparents, parents, and youth, facilitating traditional knowledge transmission and bridging technological gaps across generations within 100 Ethiopian-Israeli families.
The organization leads transformative social and educational initiatives through intensive workshops, cultural seminars, and community programs that promote deep understanding of Ethiopian-Jewish traditions. These activities actively combat discrimination while preserving cultural heritage, reaching over 400 participants annually.
The association’s professional team delivers educational lectures, leadership workshops, and community-building activities that strengthen family bonds and cultural identity. Special emphasis is placed on developing young leadership programs that connect tradition with innovation, empowering participants to become community change agents.
Current activities include community development in Kiryat Gat’s Shoftim and Sha’ar Darom neighborhoods, focusing on social cohesion, democratic values, and immigrant integration. Through these structured interventions, the association creates sustainable impact, fostering an inclusive society while preserving Ethiopian Jewish heritage.
