Vision
Citizens Build a Community envisions a future where marginalized youth in Lod, Ramla, and Jaffa thrive in inclusive, empowered societies. By bridging divides and fostering resilience, we aim to inspire young individuals to overcome barriers, achieve economic stability, and contribute positively to their communities. Our commitment is to nurture talent, promote social cohesion, and facilitate pathways to higher education and meaningful employment.
Activity
Citizens Build a Community was established in 2004 to address key social issues in Lod, Ramla, and Jaffa, including crime, violence, substance abuse, and poverty. The association focuses on youth empowerment through initiatives such as youth centers, academic guidance, and employment opportunities for marginalized women. Their primary project, Masaak, consists of three phases designed to support young individuals’ integration into civic life.
The Masaak project aims to extend its successful operations from Lod to Ramla and Jaffa. The project’s goals are to establish a robust social framework, support economic stability, and offer meaningful employment opportunities for youth in these areas. It addresses challenges like high inactivity rates, academic underachievement, and criminal involvement among Arab youth.
Masaak involves:
- The Yalla al-Jama’a/Kadima University Program: Increasing high school graduation rates and access to higher education.
- Community Year: Engaging graduates in communal activism and academic orientation.
- Juzor: Providing academic, financial, and social guidance throughout their studies.
The initial phase of Masaak will engage 200 students in Lod, and 100 each in Ramla and Jaffa, supported by 30 scholarship students. The project includes mentorship, academic resources, community engagement, professional development, and networking.
