Faced with the many difficulties encountered by the olim hadachim who came mainly from France in the early 2000s, a team of volunteers, under the direction of Jean Claude Benhamou, decided to create in 2006 an association with a social vocation to help concretely with the integration of the olim. This team had been trained in France in the community association network and knew the population and its demands well. The action started in Ashdod and Nataniya and has since been extended to other cities such as Ashkelon. In order to promote some people from the cultural field, ADIR also organized shows and tours of artists whose profits helped families in need. Very soon the management of specific educational projects appeared necessary, and with the corona crisis, the project to create a vacation center for children who have experienced difficult situations at home was born. Planned for 2020, the project has been postponed due to lack of time and resources. The summer of 2021 will be the beginning of this new project
In August 2021, 2 large organizations of the Israeli Francophonie, ALLIANCE-KIAH and ADIR ISRAEL, decided to join forces to carry out an educational and social program for Israeli youth. The project was to allow 100 children from 8 to 15 years old, girls and boys, divided into three age groups, under the direction of an educational team of 20 educators, animators and teachers, to live together a strong educational moment based on the methods of informal education, combining pleasure and leisure, sport, community life in a suitable place and the learning of knowledge, taking into account the delays accumulated in school programs due to the Corona. This holiday center is scheduled for 15 days from August 3 to 17, 2021, in the Ben Shemen children’s village, in the center of the country.
In the end, 80 children participated in the summer camp. The program was rich and varied and adapted to the 2 age groups 8/12 and 13/15.
The stay went to the satisfaction of the children and parents and all are looking forward to MAHANAÏM 2022.
