Vision
BINA’s programs introduce Israelis of diverse backgrounds to different approaches to Judaism and Zionism. Participants engage in shared, respectful discourse on identity and values and what it means to be Israeli and/or Jewish in the 21st century. We provide insight into the relevance of Jewish texts, values and culture while inspiring them to develop their knowledge and personal connection to Jewish identity.
Activity
Israeli high school graduates, aged 17-18, stand on the brink of adulthood and citizenship as they prepare to join the IDF. This transition marks a significant moment in their lives, as they will soon serve as protectors of the Israeli population while also laying the groundwork for their future careers. BINA’s Hertzl TLV program offers these young adults a month-long, immersive experience designed to deepen their understanding of Israeli democracy, active citizenship, and the diverse expressions of Judaism. By participating in this program before or after their military service, they gain vital tools and insights to ensure meaningful contributions during their service and beyond.
The Hertzl TLV program includes a variety of courses and practical labs covering topics such as Israeli society, Jewish identity, civics, and ethics. Participants engage in reflective learning to internalize these lessons. Additionally, weekly tour days expose them to different sectors of Israeli society, highlighting the country’s rich diversity. They also experience two Shabbatot together, exploring both traditional and contemporary Shabbat practices. This blend of education, experiential learning, and community engagement aims to cultivate ethical, informed, and active citizens ready to navigate the complexities of Israeli life after their service.
