Vision
The “Mechina Alumni in the Public Sector” project integrates high-quality alumni of the pre-military Mechinot into Israel’s Civil Service. Mechina alumni are placed in student positions within government ministries, continuing their path as young leaders who influence Israeli society. “Be’Artzenu,” the Mechinot alumni movement, strives to connect high-quality, mission-driven young leaders to the country’s key centers of influence.
Activity
The program integrates Mechina alumni into student positions within Israel’s central government ministries, in partnership with government ministries, through direct hands-on experience, professional mentorship, and a series of dedicated seminars on public administration and leadership. The program prepares participants to influence Israeli society in key public sector roles, creating a next generation of young leaders – Mechina alumni – within Israel’s governmental systems.
Alongside their placements, participants take part in three intensive professional seminars: an introduction to the structure of the public sector and the interface between central and local government; leadership and trust-building tools tailored for complex public systems; and a comprehensive review of growth and influence pathways within the Civil Service. These seminars are delivered in partnership with leading organizations in the field, providing participants with practical tools alongside ongoing personal mentorship from the program coordinator throughout the year.
The program operates on the basis of scholarships supported by the Matanel Foundation, helping students remove economic barriers and making public service an attractive, accessible destination for Mechina alumni, despite wage gaps with the private sector. The program’s long-term goal is to help Mechina alumni integrate into permanent positions in key roles within the Civil Service.
