Vision

The vision of the Jerusalem Circle is to create an interdisciplinary platform for research, writing, and public dialogue, inspired by the cultural richness of our region. Instead of simply importing ideas and questions from the Western world that overlook the unique character of our surroundings, the Jerusalem Circle seeks to nurture original thought that bridges universal and local perspectives. The platform brings together the values of Enlightenment and those of tradition, engaging deeply with the Jewish and Muslim heritages that shape our shared landscape.

Activity

The main activity of the Jerusalem Circle is the publication of a peer-reviewed academic and public journal in Hebrew and English, and in the future also in Arabic. Additional activities include conferences held around the release of each issue, and a research group of young scholars who meet regularly to discuss and refine the central questions at the heart of the Circle’s work. So far, a broad gathering has been held with leading scholars from Israel and abroad on the theme of “Universalisms,” a Zoom meeting with Professor Elizabeth Robinson from the United States, a presentation of the Circle at the Annual Philosophy Conference, and three meetings of the research group.
