Vision
The Lod Foundation was founded in 2008 for the purpose of initiating and promoting projects on behalf of Lod and its residents, to strengthen the city and push it forward.
The members of the foundation are Lod residents, representatives of the different sectors that make up the city and give it its unique character. The foundation operates as a private and independent not-for-profit association, supported solely by contributions, promoting urban processes of significant, long term social change, through partnerships between the local government and the residents, private donors, philanthropic foundations, business organizations, and government ministries.
Activity
One of our signature programs is Music-Lod is an empowerment program for underprivileged kids; we believe that music can create connection and common ground between Jews, Arabs, secular and religious.
Project’s objectives:
• Develop the musical talents among the youth of Lod
• Open the ability to dream to practice music professionally
• After school activities to avoid crime and wandering
Other major programs include:
The Community Khan – where different ethnic communities share their heritage with one another.
Melodika coffee and friends- youth club for the teenagers
Kiryat Adam – where subsidized therapy is available for residents’ emotional needs.
Pre-school Center – where babies and toddlers get care and mother’s get free time.
Agricultural Farm – where an ecological kitchen and greenhouse enable 1200 students to conduct advanced research.
Collaboration with Bezalel Academy of Art and Design and a theater project for youth-at-risk.
