Coup de pouce – The Knowledge Transmission (KNOT) pilot-project

RD of Congo

    Knowledge Transmission (KNOT)

Vision

Knowledge, in all its forms, whether ancestral or contemporary, is an intangible asset that can be used infinitely and is of inestimable value, offering a lever for promoting innovative populations in the need.
The impacts of the KNOT project include the valorization of individuals who live in disadvantaged environments but are still capable of receiving and transmitting knowledge; improved social harmony, and better local economic development.

Activity

The Knowledge Transmission (KNOT) pilot-project will be launched at the Green Mango extra-schooling center which was built in 2010 in the Poleni village in Haut-Katanga (DRC) thanks to major donors including the Matanel Foundation through the subscription of Gigi Grasso’s book of photography for his 20th anniversary. Purpose is to break barriers when global education is concerned in making knowledge accessible without social or financial conditions. It implies the circulation of knowledge between all stakeholders of a community : the elders, the parents, schools and learning hubs, sport and cultural clubs, libraries, groups of women, beekeepers empowered through the Be Nuyki project initially co-funded by the Matanel Foundation; farmers and micro entrepreneurs as well as representatives of various professions (with meetings and exchanges in their workplace). Each member of a community belongs to the same ecosystem based on a close and empathetic approach. With a reduced cost, this project is replicable and adaptable anywhere. In other words, with KNOT, knowledge is passed down from generation to generation and it contributes to mutual understanding and to value any kind of knowledge. KNOT will therefore be a co-creation supported locally and abroad by a pool of private and public grantors!
