Vision
Kivunim envisions an inclusive society in which young adults with disabilities live independently, pursue meaningful goals, and are recognized as equal, contributing members of the community. Through innovative programs and individualized support, we empower participants to overcome barriers, develop life, social and vocational skills, and take active roles in shaping their futures—even in times of crisis, transition, or uncertainty.
Activity
The Building Vocational Resilience project is a cornerstone of Kivunim’s Life Preparatory Programs for young adults with disabilities (ages 18-30). It provides individualized, year-round vocational training embedded within a broader two-year residential framework. Participants develop soft skills, digital literacy, emotional resilience, and hands-on experience through pathways including Israeli National Service, employment, and academic or professional studies. These vocational tracks help participants build confidence and engage meaningfully with their communities.
The program is tailored to participants with diverse disabilities—physical, sensory, and autism – and is supported by occupational therapists and social workers. Together, they help each participant define and pursue a vocational path aligned with their strengths, interests, and functional abilities.
In addition to supporting participants, we also work with employers who are eager to promote inclusion but lack prior experience employing people with disabilities. We guide them in creating accessible, supportive, and sustainable work environments.
Operating in Haifa, Nahariya, and Herzliya, the program currently supports over 120 participants and more than 300 alumni. In response to the war, economic instability, and the rise of AI, new components have been added – such as AI-focused workshops and increased mental health support – to ensure long-term, relevant, and meaningful vocational pathways.
