Vision

The Access for All program seeks to democratize academic knowledge by making it accessible to underserved communities. The program fosters personal development, critical thinking, digital literacy, and active civic participation. It promotes belonging, self-efficacy, and motivation to learn. Deeply aligned with the University of Haifa’s mission, it reinforces the university’s role as a diverse, inclusive, and socially engaged academic institution serving all communities in northern Israel.

Activity

Access for All is a social-educational initiative that opens the gates of academia to underserved populations, offering access to essential and practical knowledge in an academic setting. The program is grounded in the belief that knowledge is power  and that this power should be accessible to all.

At the University of Haifa, the program is managed by the Unit for Social Involvement at the Dean of Students Office, with the generous support of the Matanel Foundation. Participants are adult learners referred by social welfare and health authorities from cities and towns across northern Israel, including Haifa, Nazareth, Dalit El Carmel, Usafia, Tirat Carmel, Nesher, and the Krayot. They take part in introductory courses in psychology, medicine, and law, all taught by outstanding undergraduate students who undergo academic training in a course on educational and social issues in Israel.

The program fosters empowerment, a sense of belonging, and meaningful learning among participants, while equipping student instructors with pedagogical tools, social responsibility, and community awareness.

Access for All reflects the University of Haifa’s commitment to combining academic excellence with social engagement. We deeply appreciate the Matanel Foundation’s continued partnership and support in making this vision a reality.
