Vision

Access for All strives towards an equal society that enables each individual to live up to their potential, and contribute meaningfully to themselves and society at large. We do this by creating encounters between the university and disadvantaged populations. Approximately 25,000 participants have graduated the program and are less dependent on social services.

Activity

At the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Access for All operates an academic and social initiative that brings university-level education to adults from underserved and marginalized communities. The program offers introductory academic courses in fields such as law, psychology, and business administration, taught by trained student-instructors. These students not only deliver content but also serve as mentors, creating a respectful, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

The core aim is to reduce educational disparities by enabling participants—many of whom have had limited access to formal education—to develop academic skills, critical thinking, and a sense of personal agency. Courses are carefully designed to be both academically rigorous and practically relevant, empowering participants to make informed choices in their personal and professional lives.

We work in close partnership with the Municipality of Jerusalem, local welfare services, and national agencies to recruit participants and provide them with comprehensive support. The program continuously evolves in response to the needs of the community and the broader social context, ensuring it remains relevant and impactful.

By fostering mutual learning and social connection, the project promotes equal opportunity, personal growth, and the vision of a more inclusive society—right at the heart of the university.
