Amichai (SV18)
On behalf of all the people of Amichai, I wish again to express or gratitude for the most generous donation.
Amichai operates five houses in the community in Hod Hasharon. In each house live six people with severe developmental intellectual disabilities who need support and assistance in all day-to-day activities, from personal hygiene to food preparation and assistance with eating.
The houses are “houses for life” and even in times of war, they continue to live in the houses. Normally, the tenants go to sheltered employment in the morning and return home at 3:00 p.m. Due to the war, the tenants are at home all day. The team is with them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, the team will be strengthened and instead of one instructor on shift, there are two instructors on shift, including at night, in order to succeed in getting everyone into the residential secure space in 90 seconds. In addition, in order to relieve anxiety and stress, therapists from various fields such as: art, music, and psychology have been integrated, and they come every day to conduct activities in all the homes.
Therefore, the cost of operating the housing system has increased greatly and we are having difficulty meeting the expenses.
