To empower young people towards leadership, to advance the humanistic values of Tikkun Olam in an equitable Jewish and democratic Israeli society.

Activity

Mechinat Rabin is a pre-army leadership program for high-school graduates who delay their military service to spend a year volunteering in the community and learning to take responsibility for what is going on in their communities, in the larger society and within the Jewish people. As they come to understand the qualities of leadership, they embark on a personal journey to deepen their knowledge and clarify their values and goals. The Mechina was founded to contend with the disillusionment and apathy that pervaded in the wake of the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin in 1995.

Dani Zamir

Dani Zamir, Esq. is the founder and director of Mechinat Rabin, the Yitzhak Rabin Pre-military Leadership Academy. An officer in the Israel Defense Forces and co-chair of the National Council of Pre-Army Preparatory Academies. Dani is a consummate educator who inspires young Israelis to take an active role in their communities and to make their IDF service meaningful. By instilling in these young people a true understanding of social responsibility, by connecting them to their Jewish culture and by cultivating in them a commitment to the betterment of society, Zamir is helping nurture a generation of committed, thoughtful and compassionate leaders.
