Vision
We aim to replicate the model that has proven so successful in Hadera, scaling up to wipe out the majority of desperate welfare housing cases across the center of Israel.
Activity
Our professional team will carry out urgent, basic repairs at no cost for welfare families from all backgrounds and religions in Kiryat Malachi. With a total population of 4,500 families, approximately 1,700 are currently clients of the municipal social services. The city turned to Tenufa Bakehila after becoming aware of our services through a television interview, requesting that we provide repair services for poor homeowners that the local government is unable to help. We have committed to renovate 50 apartments per year in projects ranging in size from small (fixing leaks, painting, etc.) to extensive (replacing kitchens, making bathrooms accessible, repairing electricity, etc.) While our workers repair the house, social workers reach out to each member of the family, helping connect them to available services in the areas of health, education and welfare. Our experience has proven that a sound roof, a functional kitchen and a clean and safe environment kick-start a positive spiral that helps desperate families break the cycle of poverty and distress.
