Vision

Leading universities agree that youth who learn about the exact sciences in informal educational settings become motivated to peruse academic study and improve their overall scholastic performance. By granting scholarship vouchers, this project seeks to enable disadvantaged youth from the economic and geographic peripheries in Israel to enroll in a range of prestigious, science oriented summer camps that are operated each year by Israeli universities.

Activity

Access to quality education often correlates with a student’s place of residence and socio-economic family situation. As a result of growing economic and social gaps between different segments of Israeli society, many talented children miss out on these opportunities because they are unable to afford costly enrichment activities, private tutoring, or are compelled to use their free time to work in order to support their families. This project will enable 250-300 participants, 100 of them from the Ethiopian-Israeli community, from underprivileged socio- economic environment who deserve to be gratified for their merit in school to enroll to prestigious science oriented summer camps that are operated by Israel’s most prestigious academic Institutes: Ben Gurion University (Beersheva), Weizmann Institute (Rechovot), Technion (Haifa), Tel Aviv University, Erica Landau Institute for Engineering (Tel Aviv), Hebrew university (Jerusalem) and Bar Ilan university (Ramat Gan). The high-level enrichment activities will include themes such as physics, microbiology, law, aerodynamics, robotics, economics and many other academic and scientific fields. For many students, their participation in the summer camp will be the very first time that they will visit an academic institution or take part in science oriented educational programs.
