Vision
Presentation of a unique theatrical play based on Gitta Mallász’s personal story of rescuing 130 Jewish women and children during the Shoah in Hungary. The premiere of the play will be at the original venue (now Lauder Javne Community School, Budapest) and will later tour the cultural and educational centers in Hungary. The message of the project is that by remembering the past, we shape our future, and that we stand up against any form of violence, repression and racism.
Activity
The Angel Project is an educational and artistic program. Its main element is a theatrical play based on the diary and personal reflections of Gitta Mallász who – by risking her own life – rescued more than 100 Jewish women and children from deportations in 1944. The human rescue took place at the Katalin Villa, in Budapest, where the kindergarten of the Lauder Javne Jewish Community School, the largest Jewish educational institution in Central Europe is housed today.
The premiere of the project will take place at the original venue and later it will in different cities in Hungary.
Gitta Mallász’s individual commitment inspired us to involve teachers and students to create an educational program that helps make the important issues raised in the performance understood for the audience.
