Renovation of the Synagogue de Carpentras

Vision

To restore the original entrance of the synagogue old it’s XIV or XV century rooms in order to enlarge the museum space and presents to all visitors Jewish universality and specially its particularity of the count of Venaissin.

Activity

Thanks to those works being done, we can present to the all public from France and abroad, the integral refurbished building this exceptional old monument will continued to be a place for concerts , expositions , studies , meetings and place of exchange.

Meyer BENZECRIT

Meyer BENZECRIT is born in Safi in 1961.After spending his childhood in Morocco, he came in France specially in Toulouse to carry his studies and became a successful dental surgeon.

Then in 1986 he decide to stablished a dental clinic in Orange near Carpentras , where he is still practicing .In 1987 he married to Martine and have two girls and one boy .

In 2014 he has been elected as chairman of the Synagogue of Carpentras and his first aim was to restore the Synagogue which is the oldest in activity in France .

(built in 1367) . In 2020, he has been reelected and that insured the sustainability of the project.
