Vision

“The University of Haifa is dedicated to providing higher education opportunities to diverse and talented students and advancing excellence in teaching and academic research in the humanities, social sciences, arts and natural sciences. Activity

The University of Haifa has invested significantly in developing its multidisciplinary science studies and research centers, including Departments of Neurobiology and Ethology, Evolutionary and Environmental Biology, and Marine Sciences, and is committed to increasing the number of students pursuing careers in the sciences.
The Matanel Scholarship Fund for Academic Leadership in the Sciences offers scholarship and fellowship support to outstanding students pursuing advanced degrees in the sciences. Students living in Israel’s peripheral towns and who are in need of financial assistance will benefit from these scholarships.

Aaron Ben-Ze'ev

Aaron Ben-Ze’ev, Professor of Philosophy, is President of the University of Haifa and is considered one of the world’s leading experts in the study of emotions. Professor Ben-Ze’ev received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 1981. At the University of Haifa he has served as Rector, Dean of Research, and Chairperson of the Philosophy Department. He established the Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Emotions at the University and has written extensively on the philosophy of psychology and the study of emotions. His recently published books include In The Name of Love: Romantic Ideology and its Victims (Oxford University Press) and Love Online: Emotions on the Internet (Cambridge University Press).
