Vision

The Fund for Innovative Teaching views school principals as the most important agents of change in the educational system. Schools in the periphery of Israel struggle with very limited resources and it is difficult for the school principals to promote new initiatives and educational programs. The Fund encourages school principals from the periphery to identify the teachers’ and students’ strengths and difficulties and to develop innovative responses to their needs.

Activity

The Fund for Innovative Teaching provides recognition for school principals who develop original educational visions and allows them to realize their visions wherever they may be in Israel: in every sector, geographical area and in every subject matter. A school principal, who fulfills one’s abilities and becomes aware of the extent of one’s influence on the educational environment, will choose to invest in the educational staff and system for many years to come.

The main objectives of this project are to reach out to school principals in the periphery of Israel and empower school principals to develop and carry out creative educational initiatives in their schools. The Fund will provide the school principals with multidimensional support: professional, moral, and financial. The support consists of an institutional grant to implement the innovative project, a personal stipend and also pedagogic guidance by professionals of the Fund by visiting their projects and providing pedagogic guidance in and documentation.

Via the educational initiative, school principals will find ways to fulfill their personal vision and contribute from their inner world and professional knowledge to their schools, teachers and to the system in general. It is through these activities that the Fund for Innovative Teaching strives to instigate change in schools in the periphery of Israel and the education system in general: innovative school principals will serve as a model for the teachers and students to develop and launch additional educational innovations in their schools.
