Activity

The educational objectives of the pre-military program (Mechina):
1.Examination and deeper comprehension of the students’ Jewish, Zionist and Israeli identity.
2.Education to social solidarity, involvement, commitment, responsibility and a life of devotion and dedication.
3.Physical, mental and moral preparation for a meaningful IDF service emphasizing combat, command and officer roles.
4.Development of peer and team capacities including personal responsibility, planning, execution, persistence and improvement.
5.The Mechina graduates will serve in the IDF as commanders and officers, will take up leadership positions in the fields of education, business, media, law, culture, science, defense, politics and public service.

Our generation's youth will shape the Israeli people, through the creation of a model society.

Yuval Kahan

Yuval Kahan (38) has for the past 13 years taught and educated Israeli teens at various formal and informal institutes, most notably the Shalom Hartman institute in Jerusalem. In 2007 Kahan founded the “The Israeli Academy for Leadership Tel Aviv in Memory of Ben Zion Shay Hadad”, and during the past four years Kahan has managed and directed the academy, including all educational, practical and financial aspects. Kahan holds an MA in Jewish Thought (“Machshevet Yisrael”) from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem (graduated Sum Cum Lauda), and is currently completing his PhD on the topic of existence and consciousness in the teachings of Rabbi Kook. Kahan serves as a Major in the Army reserves.
